Scrapstars April 2012

Well I had a hectic few weeks prior to the retreat and not through retreat work, but family commitments, I'll refer back to them later, but I just have to tell you all about the Scrapstars weekend retreat. I had a fab time (except for the fact that we only had 5 hours sleep on Friday and Saturday night) if I seemed a little "grey" on Sunday, that is the reason, but everything else went superbly. That's what you get when you deal with a bunch of professional, so my thanks go out to the wonderful teachers, Lida, Kirsty, Emma and Jolan. Their projects were fantastic and the ladies were a fantastic bunch again, we had 5 newbies, and they all said they had a fantastic time and asked "when's the next one". We even managed to sort any lighting problems with some funky lights that my husband hired for me, although I did suggest to the girls that they might like to alter the bases as a challenge as they were a little ugly ! Also thanks to Kate and Nicky from Bellaboo for bringing the shop. Our pre retreat challenge was to alter a match box (the large cooks type) and some of the entries were stunning, of course they were all lovely and unique and one of our new ladies Brenda won that particular challenge, we also has sketch challenge, make and takes, raffle and of course bingo, the Saturday night flies by, here are a few photo's of the matchboxes ....

Well here goes my first post on my blog. I wanted to back pedal a little as last weekend was the first ever Scrapstars event. I didn't have a blog then but have been encouraged (and bullied) to start one! I'd love you to read the reviews of the event on Kathy and Kirsty's blogs, they have been so kind and supportive and you can find the links in my list of favourite blogs. The retreats have come about as it is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I was an avid Scrap-a- Ganza visitor and when that folded in 2008, I like so many other tried the Inspired retreat, which I have to say was fantastic, but I don't think I need to say more about what happened to the October 2010 event. I was the lady along with Karen Laverock , who tried to do a "rescue retreat" but as so many people had lost confidence in the whole event, it wasn't viable to move forward. In the end, I decided that as I had been thinking about it for two years, I should just go for i...

Scrapstars the adventure continues ...

On other news, last Tuesday after Henry's death, the lovely Emma Trout sent me a replacement kit for the Western Romance one I lost at the retreat. I actually filled up with tears when I opened the box, I knew what was going to be in it, but I was feeling raw and weepy and was very touched by Emma's generosity in sending me the kit plus a few little extras :) So it was nice on Wednesday to be able to go over to see my old scrapbooking friend Lisa and Elaine and then go to Lesley's, and almost finish the western romance layout, partly following the instructions and also looking at Lesley's layout. I should really have finished it when I got home, there is very little left to do on it, so I will do so pronto, and get it posted on here, it's gorgeous and once again I will have loads left over for a second page...... On to Scrapstars news, I visited five hotels this weekend and am waiting for quotes and dates to be confirmed, i will speak to them all tomorrow. I haven...

Parcels arriving ...

Well they are coming in thick and fast this week (finally) I must say some of the suppliers have left me with the jitters with these new summer CHA releases only just coming in to their warehouses. If you want the new releases, you have to do it this way, maybe next year, i will pick a date where the products will be in in plenty of time, but then most of you will have already been out and bought them (Kathy)! I guess you saw my post on facebook about the delivery guy and me being in the shower! That was a very strange conversation, he's stood at the door on his phone ringing me and asking "are you dressed" and I say "no, I'll just put my dressing gown on" weird LOL. On another not, Robyn is Brown again! Her hair has been bright red for some time, as shocking as it is, it does suit her, but she's tamed it down a little and taken a couple of piercings out, could my daughter be growing up? Bless, she's a darling. :) P.S. she hates this picture ooops.
