Consumed

I cant believe how long it's been since I blogged but i have been consumed with work and the fast approaching Scrapstars retreat. Things have been pretty grim at work, with the recession hitting hard and work being very thin on the ground. We have had to carry out redundancies and i have found myself (very reluctantly) promoted to personnel department (just me with a little help from my colleague Mel). It has been grim following the redundancy procedure at our factory in Liverpool and has meant me putting a lot of extra days in at work, last week I worked every day, Yes, that was a shock to the system, it's been a while !!!! Anyway, my solace has been my crafting and (ignoring most of the housework last week) in the few snatched half hours here and there that I did have, I did my best to switch off with a bit of crafting. I have been making lots of cards, yes cards !!!! for my Stampin Up demos, and have also managed to do a scrapbook layout with Stampin Up papers. This is not all last week! I'm not super woman, this has been the work of the last 3 weeks or so :)
I chose the Stampin Up Big Top Birthday papers, as they are right out of my comfort zone! As often happens once i've taken my photo, I then decide i should have added more, so it may be one of the four B's, bunting, butterflies, buttons or brads! Enjoy.

Well here goes my first post on my blog. I wanted to back pedal a little as last weekend was the first ever Scrapstars event. I didn't have a blog then but have been encouraged (and bullied) to start one! I'd love you to read the reviews of the event on Kathy and Kirsty's blogs, they have been so kind and supportive and you can find the links in my list of favourite blogs. The retreats have come about as it is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I was an avid Scrap-a- Ganza visitor and when that folded in 2008, I like so many other tried the Inspired retreat, which I have to say was fantastic, but I don't think I need to say more about what happened to the October 2010 event. I was the lady along with Karen Laverock , who tried to do a "rescue retreat" but as so many people had lost confidence in the whole event, it wasn't viable to move forward. In the end, I decided that as I had been thinking about it for two years, I should just go for i...

Scrapstars the adventure continues ...

On other news, last Tuesday after Henry's death, the lovely Emma Trout sent me a replacement kit for the Western Romance one I lost at the retreat. I actually filled up with tears when I opened the box, I knew what was going to be in it, but I was feeling raw and weepy and was very touched by Emma's generosity in sending me the kit plus a few little extras :) So it was nice on Wednesday to be able to go over to see my old scrapbooking friend Lisa and Elaine and then go to Lesley's, and almost finish the western romance layout, partly following the instructions and also looking at Lesley's layout. I should really have finished it when I got home, there is very little left to do on it, so I will do so pronto, and get it posted on here, it's gorgeous and once again I will have loads left over for a second page...... On to Scrapstars news, I visited five hotels this weekend and am waiting for quotes and dates to be confirmed, i will speak to them all tomorrow. I haven...

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year ...

Well managed to survive Christmas, how about you? It was fine really, i was just a bit stressed before hand about family politics and who was going where, but honestly, that shouldn't be what it is all about should it? Have to say (or I will be in trouble) best pressie was Robyn's dressing gown and Les Mis DVD, (it does still give me thrill that she buys me proper pressies now, it gives me that lovely fuzzy feeling) but joint first had to be my mega pizza box stuffed with goodies from Lesley, scrapbook goodies too numerous to mention, a crazy scrapbook doll and a hand knitted scarf WOW. I was also very lucky to get a couple of other craft related pressies from family members, my sister got me a martha stewart punch and my nephew and his wife got me a voucher for an online shop so i can do a bit of craft sale shopping. Speaking of sale shopping, Craig and i did the dastardly deal yesterday and actually, it wasn't that bad, but by the time we were leaving, it was crazy. So ...
